CPR’s 3rd Graduation Ceremony and Launch of Activities

On the 20th of January 2018, we held our 3rd graduation ceremony and also launched the activities of the centre. A total of 53 students graduated in Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution with the CounsMed approach. There were nineteen (19) Advanced Certificate and thirty-four (34) foundation course graduands.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Chief of Defense Staff, Lt. General Obed Akwa, a Supreme Court Judge Justice Jones Victor Dotse, the Chairman for the Peace Council Rev. Dr. Adu as Gyamfi and the Registrar of the Ghana Psychological Council Dr Dina Baa-Odoom.

Our Keynote speaker, Justice Jones Victor Dotse urged the graduands to be icons of change with the knowledge acquired from CPR. He said,

It is possible there will be an increase in the number of cases to be settled in the future and I believe the training you have acquired from CPR must lead you to make the impact first in the society, communities, churches and families. There are many marital cases which come to the court some bother only on resolutions of marital properties.

The courses been offered at CPR should find it way of been related to our national curricular in basic, secondary and tertiary institutions and above all I will urge the authorities especially churches and chiefs to encourage CPR in their various institutions. The institutions must partner with CPR to weave Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) into their systems.

Our Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Hopeson, revealed in his speech that some influential people within various communities have passed through CPR to become better mediators. He said,

Today we are happy to witness our third graduation. Apart from other different training in the corporate world for the clergy, family institutions and traditional rulers almost close to 150 students have passed through this main stream of our programmes. It may interest you to know that, we have trained about 500 traditional rulers to know how to handle their community issues and also to moderate over issue that could have become protracted conflicts.
